Housing…. 

It’s the right kind of housing that needs to be developed. 

Housing that’s affordable for residents, families and young people who want to stay in Kimberley, service industry workers and housing for people who want to rent, and those who want to buy.  

Housing for seniors.  Most want to stay in Kimberley but can’t find anything suitable.  They wish to age in place. 

And social housing (involves BC Housing, non-profit partnerships and City land).   

Being a landlord providing for long term affordable rentals needs to be more attractive…

Kimberley’s densification zoning bylaw amendment is a great start to help diversify housing options and create more affordable housing.  Here’s an Explainer: Affordable Housing and Densification.  I also think it should be improved by requiring a development process with neighbourhood consultation for homes that are 3 stories or more.  I believe at this point, 3 stories is max.
